Lukas, I can relate. I bought my Braun immersion blender at a garage sale in Chicago for $1 back in 1986. I was a medical student so was thrilled with the deal. And it still works!
Still need the immersion blender even with the Vitamix which is great. Easier to blend soup IN the pot rather than the back-and-forth and potential mess of a blender. Small batches, etc. make it a preferable choice.
I have a question regarding making the tortillas. I bought the Masienda tortilla press and masa and I love both but when I make the dough, I feel like the dough is a little too wet. ( I am using their proportions) When I try to get it off of the plastic or parchment paper that I use, it tears and I have to ball it up and start again. What proportions do you use with masa and water and do you use plastic or parchment or ? to press it between. Any helpful hints for success would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
I had started out using their proportions but have needed to adjust a little along the way. Sometimes more masa, sometimes more water. I think it needs to be done by feel and though practice... it shouldn’t stick to the plastic or parchment, if it does you can just knead in a bit more masa. Fresh playdough is about the consistency I’ve found to work best (though not an appetizing descriptor)! I also found that upping the temperature to medium-low or medium helps them cook a little better, flipping them often as they cook. I even get them to puff up on occasion!
Thank you so much. I will keep practicing. We also made your power oat bars with your recommendation and they are sooo good. Thank you so much for the time you spend and give and your instruction. Most helpful and kind.

That's amazing!
Love this! I remember my first immersion blender and really feeling like I leveled up 😄
Exactly how I felt!
I love this, an ode to the immersion blender! I do sometimes wish for one, even though I tend to use my Vitamix for many of the same tasks.

Thanks. I'll have to do some research to see what the new models are looking like.
