Lukas - Pretty sure these are a variation on the "Aram Sandwich", an Armenian-American roll up that was invented in the 1970's in a San Francisco restaurant called the Caravansary:

My MIL said she remembers them from the 70s! I suppose Idaho (where I grew up) was always a little slow to catch up.

I think our moms could have hung out together. This is exactly the kind of party food she made when I was growing up in the 70's.
